1. Who we are
Agora Connect ("we", "us", "our") operates a local business discovery platform at agoraconnect.ng. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. For any question about your data, contact us at info@agoraconnect.ng.
We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the guidance issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
2. What we collect
Before launch, we collect only what you provide through the early-access form:
- Your name, so we can address you correctly.
- Your email address, so we can send your access link and launch updates.
- Your state, so we understand where our early users are based.
- What you do, either as a customer or a business category, so we can plan the directory.
We also collect basic technical data when you visit, including your approximate location, browser type and the pages you view. This comes from standard server logs and helps us keep the site secure and working properly.
Once the directory opens and business owners create listings, we will collect the business details they choose to publish, such as business name, address, phone number, WhatsApp number, email, opening hours and photographs. We will update this policy before that happens.
3. How we use it
- To send your access link on 1 September 2026 and, where you have asked for them, occasional launch updates.
- To understand demand by state and category, so we build the directory around real need.
- To keep the site secure and to prevent spam and abuse.
- To respond when you contact us.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not send you marketing on behalf of other companies.
4. Our legal basis
Under the NDPA, we rely on your consent when you submit the early-access form, and on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the platform for the technical data held in our logs. You may withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us, and we will stop contacting you.
5. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers who help us run the site, and only so far as they need it to do that work:
- Resend stores your contact details and delivers our emails.
- Our hosting provider serves the website and processes server logs.
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on the site, which may expose your IP address to Google when a page loads.
Some of these providers operate outside Nigeria, so your data may be processed abroad. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure it remains protected to the standard the NDPA requires. We may also disclose data where the law obliges us to.
6. Cookies and analytics
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If we introduce analytics later, we will name the tool in this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your signup details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, or until they are no longer needed for the pilot and launch updates. Server logs are held for a short period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted.
8. Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to ask us to:
- provide a copy of the personal data we hold about you,
- correct anything that is inaccurate,
- delete your data,
- restrict or object to how we use it,
- transfer your data in a portable format, and
- withdraw your consent at any time.
Email info@agoraconnect.ng and we will respond within the period the law allows. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), restrict who can access your data, and work with providers that follow recognised security practices. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep the risk low, and we will notify you and the NDPC of any breach that affects you, as the law requires.
10. Children
Agora Connect is intended for adults who run or are looking for businesses. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with their data, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page as the platform develops, particularly when the directory and business listings go live. When we make a significant change, we will revise the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
